Aardig online artikel van David Harvey: “Urban roots of financial crises“, waarin de invloed van het neoliberalisme op ruimtelijke ordening (c.q. ontwikkeling) uiteen wordt gezet en tevens aan de recente economische ontwikkelingen gerelateerd wordt.
Eén van de meest sprekende quotes vindt ik toch wel de volgende:
“But land is not a commodity in the ordinary sense. It is a fictitious form of capital that derives from expectations of future rents”
Ook het feit dat New York City, het voorbeeld als ‘world city’ ooit vrijwel failliet geweest is zet aan tot nadenken.
